graphics was more like PSP, but it suffered for even less games to pick than ngage 1 and whole platform died. Later there was Ngage 2.0 which was released as an installable application and ran on symbian phones with cpu of 300MHz and up. Button layout was perfect, you can use entire phone with one hand if you need (i talk about QD model).

you had to install some homebrews to listen music in mono format. it has very bad media support - no mp3 player, no video player. It supports up to 2GB storage, while games weight from 10 to 100MB, so you can put about 20 games on one memory card. It used MMC cards (which are almost identical to SD cards, and use the same readers).

It was a great console, technically kind of simmilar to Nintendo DS, but with very few games to chose.

I still have Ngage QD, as well as other portable consoles. For an emulator that would be the first of its kind, one should probably do it the right way from the start. I think something like that happened with GB games that use the MM01 MBC or "mapper", people built emulators to work with technically incprrect dumps. It's not only a legal issue, but unless those dumps are confirmed as being 100% correct you can run into issues later on when developing emulators. Personally, I'd stay away from dumps you find online if you're aiming to accurate. If someone got that much done, it might be enough to attract more attention. It's not hard to get started on working on the N-Gage CPU right now, especially since that will be the most documented component. ARM is familiar territory when it comes to emulation (GBA, NDS, 3DS all have various ARM CPUs). The good thing about the N-Gage is that it's based on an ARM CPU. Obviously I'm busy with other work right now, but I can always offer pointers. Well, in general, I'd like to see ALL games preserved (along with media like box art and manuals) so to an extent, I do care that the N-Gage is emulated eventually. You don't need to rely on potentially shady websites for a flashcart (or you don't have to make your own either). Makes everything a lot easier when it comes to testing.

It's cool that you can use MMC cards to load up software though. That's just where I'm coming from as an emu-dev. It's nice that other people did the ground work (even if it was legally dubious) but from the perspective that we have to save these games for later generations (and our own nostalgia), it pays to be thorough. Even if there are dumps out there online, ideally someone ought to verify it on their end just like any other platform.Ĭall me OCD, but I'm the kind that feels you need to go all the way when it comes to game preservation. If so, great, but fwiw, someone should build a database with MD5 hashes for reference. My main concern was if they were 100% correct.
